Realising that children are the most powerful tool to carry messages on environment to the rural and urban community, an educational animated film of 43 minutes, “Our Environment – Let Us Protect it” has been produced in English and dubbed in Hindi and Marathi by BAIF. This film attempts to motivate every individual to initiate eco-friendly activities at their level as well as a responsible member of the local community.
The English version of the film was released by Shri. Sharad Pawar, Union Minister for Agriculture in New Delhi on December 3, 2007 in the presence of a large number of dignitaries including Ms. Madeleine Albright, former U.S. Secretary of State, Justice J.S. Verma, former Chief Justice of India, Mr. Muhtar Kent, Chief Executive Officer and President, Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, USA and Mr. Atul Singh, President and CEO, Coca-Cola India Inc. Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Delhi presided over the function. A large number of school children from neighbourhood schools were also present on the occasion. The Marathi version of the film will be released in Pune shortly. |

The film covers five important topics presented in a dialogue form: Our Environment, Conservation of Nature, Eco-system, Our climate and Preventing Environmental Pollution in rural and urban areas supported by animated video clippings from stories and documentary films developed by BAIF on conservation of natural resources. To sustain the interest of children, the film has been designed in such a way that it can be viewed in parts. To enable the readers to review and summarise important learnings and messages captured in the film, colourful booklets have been published in English, Hindi and Marathi.
To ensure that children have access to this film, BAIF proposes to conduct orientation workshops for 4000 school teachers from 200 schools in 20 districts of Maharashtra before taking up large scale distribution in primary schools in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh with the support of Coca-Cola India. |
