Looking at the benefits derived by the deprived tribals and wadi (establishment of productive orchards) owners in Thane and Nashik districts, the Government of Maharashtra announced during the budget speech in the State Assembly in March 2003 that a provision has been made in their annual budget for expanding the wadi programme through BAIF by implementing the BAIF wadi model in 12 districts in the state.

The BAIF Semen Freezing Laboratory became the first laboratory in the country to receive the ISO 9002 certificate. The Semen Freezing Laboratory has received a further renewal of its quality management system for processing of semen freezing up to September 30, 2006 |

With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, BAIF developed an effective vaccine against Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) and a rapid, reliable, sensitive and specific field diagnostic kit at the BAIF Laboratories, a subsidiary of BAIF in Pune for identifying infected animals. This technology is now available for commercial vaccine production with the National Research Development Corporation, New Delhi, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology. BAIF received a Royalty of Rs 10.5 lakhs from the National Research Development Corporation, New Delhi |

“Conjunctive use of Water Resources in Deccan trap area (in India)”, a research project jointly implemented by BAIF and the University of Windsor, Canada at three villages in Akole taluka in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra was one among 50 success stories on environmental management and international development, to be selected for presentation at the Sixth session of the UN Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD6) in New York in 1998. The success story was featured with other selections as a worldwide web document on the CSD6 website. |
